Frequently Asked Questions

  • Coaching is a growth-promoting partnership that supports clients to create sustainable health behaviors in their lives. It is unlike many other relationships in healthcare today in that it offers a personalized approach to the behavior change process. Coaches facilitate this change process through visioning, goal-setting, accountability, and helping clients connect to their strengths, values, and motivations.

  • Like therapy, coaching is a helping profession—but while therapists tend to work with the past and the “why” behind things, coaches are present- and future-oriented. We’ll look at the possibilities instead of examining diagnoses or causes, and we’ll focus on how to move forward with positive behaviors.

  • Sessions follow a predictable structure, but vary depending on which stage of the coaching process you’re in:

    • Initial sessions: we’ll explore your values and vision and design your long-term goals.

    • Ongoing sessions: we’ll check in on your progress, discuss what’s most important in the moment, and collaboratively create new steps to move you closer to your goals.

    • Closing sessions: These follow a similar structure to an ongoing session, with the addition of discussing progress, forming a maintenance plan, and celebrating growth and learning.

  • Coaching sessions typically take 30 to 45 minutes, every other week—but we’ll develop a cadence that works with your schedule and your goals. The initial and closing sessions will be anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes.

  • Again, this depends on your goals, but a typical relationship tends to last between three and six months. After the initial time commitment is met, there is an opportunity to decide whether to continue coaching or close the relationship.

  • I offer virtual, online sessions to make it as easy as possible to fit coaching into your life, no matter what stage of motherhood you’re in.

  • This one’s easy: I always start with a 20-minute get-to-know-you call where we can talk through your life, your goals, and get a feel for each other. This initial consultation is a free service, and you can schedule yours right here.

  • I don’t offer nutrition plans—I’m not a nutritionist, and I’m not here to tell you what or how to eat. However, if you have goals around your nutrition, or if you’ve been prescribed a nutrition plan by your doctor, I can absolutely provide support and accountability for you on that journey, and we can work those goals into the overall wellness plan we build together.

  • As a wellness coach, my practice doesn’t include workout plans. But if you have a goal of being more active, I can help you build that habit and uncover ways to find the time and energy that might require. Just like with nutrition, I’m here to help you uncover what’s most important to you with exercise and in turn offer support and accountability.
